Overview

Locality is the national membership network for community organisations.
They have a vision of a fair society where every community thrives and a mission to support community organisations to be strong and successful, to meet local needs, and to give people a purpose, good places to live and good health. They believe the power of community will build a fairer society.

Locality have four main areas of work:

  • Peer learning and connection through the membership network.
  • Resources for local people to get involved and create change in their community.
  • Specialist advice and support.
  • Campaigning to create a better operating environment for community organisations.

Memberships surveys are designed to help Locality to campaign and influence public policy on members’ behalf more effectively.

Locality build and harness an evidence-base working closely with members to develop case studies showcasing innovative practice and identifying barriers. They learn from members through policy discussion and peer-to-peer learning.

They conduct agenda setting research projects with members to provide thought leadership such as the Powerful Communities, Strong Economies report – part of our Keep it Local campaign to put local services in the community’s hands.
